Textiles from the 3D Printer

The process is among the most exciting innovations for many fields. Besides printing models and prefabricated components out of synthetics, metal, synthetic resin and ceramic, the 3D production doesn’t stop at the clothing industry. Whether Haute Couture lingerie, shoes, or functional clothing – textiles form the 3D printer are the future. Next to the low production and material costs, printed textiles are convincing in their sustainability. All the more important to get acquainted with the new system.

Marouscha Levy Introduces 3D Printing Technology

She is offering the four-day course in the essentials of 3D printing in textiles to trainees and professionals from the branch of theater at the Feronia Festival for Backstage Art and Craft. Marouscha Levy will present the drawing program Tinkercad® in the course. With this program, even beginners can create their own drawings and designs on textiles. Participants will practice using Tinkercad® during the workshop and will implement their own templates. In the course of the four days, numerous patterns and work samples will be produced, which participants can take home as references. At the end of the event, a presentation of the 3D works from the workshop will be held. A wonderful addition to the course is the workshop “Ageing and Breakdown in Costumes“ with the textile artists Jan Dieckmann and You-Jin Seo. They will teach various artificial ageing techniques in this workshop.
